BAEGOPA LEE: FRANKFURT

When the cold winter comes, people come to my house to have a chinese hotpot party. Last week was particularily depressing due to the continuous rainy days and the cold weather. So, we had a quick hotpot meet up for the first time this year. First, we went to the go Asia chinese grocery shop in Kontaktschwache. Accoding to my chinese friends, the price of this shop is exactly same as other chinese shops. So, we don`t need to go other chinese shops where a bit apart from the centre. We are total 7 people and we spent approx. 140 EUR, so 20 EUR per each person we ate and drunk. We could eat exactly same price at the hotpot restaurant, but there is always different atmosphere at home. We could enjoy it in a closed space with only us. But the problem is, I had to clean all next day. It take a bit time. And my neighbour doesn`t like to noise at night. She ringed the bell at 11PM to ask us a bit quiet. When I woke up in the morning, there was a light rain outside. Yeah, it is not a good day for a hiking. However, 7 people include me have agreed to do hiking even it rains. We needed to go to the Großer Feldberg with the public transport. We had to take the train and then take the bus to be at the bus station in the 900m high Großer Feldberg. What we saw at there was the white covered field by the heavy snow. We did not know that snow falls in this area before we arrived here.  The landscape was beautiful, but we could not proceed the hiking because of the light heavy snow. Even though we could not do the hiking, we could enjoy the beautiful white landscape over there. That was enough for today. The first snow in 2017, checked.

It was already a month ago. I was in Phuket at that time and enjoyed a lot the Thai dishes. And then, there was no chance to have the Thai food again.  I had a chance to see the magic show in the flemmings hotel. Well, I am not a big fan of the magic show, but the ticket was free and I wanted to see such a show outside. We had to eat something before the show starts, and the Thai restaurant Aroydee was one of the good options I could take.  The restaurant was noisy and crowded, as always. Whenever I came here, I ordered original Thai food. I don't like the Germanised Thai food.  The taste of the food was great as usual, but we ete too much garlic just before the magic show. We had to somehow wash the mouth to avoid the garlic small for the other people. The show was wonderful. It was similar like I saw the magic show from the America's got talent. The magicians have really fast hands!!! I guess I could recommand this show to the other people strongly. Papaya

It was 2014 July, when I moved from Dresden to Frankfurt. As like other people, I had no friend I know in this lonely city. I went to some social network events like language exchange or expat meeting. At there, I could get to know some people who are from Asia or have any relation to Asia. It was quite relaxing for me to meet someone who can share the similarity of the culture, like eat similar food or talk common interests. I first met someone there and my friends and their friends became close each other. So, our group became a big enough we could hang out together. However, many things changed during 3 years and most of us left Frankfurt already. There are only two of this members(includes me) left and my last friend in this group will move to Asia at the end of November. What I always missed the food from Korea is not the real korean food. It is called jajangmyon, which originally comes from China. It was cheap and is still cheap. I ate it when I was very young, when I was a uni student and when I was at the company in Korea. It can be the soul food of my life in Korea. Once I moved to Europe, I was shocked by the price of the jajangmyon. It was only 2 euros in Korea, but it is 15 euros in Germany. Of course, I could eat with 10 euros cheap price when I go there in lunch time, but it is still expensive. Even though the high price, I wanted to have the taste once again and I went there after the short hiking in Kronberg. The restaurant Junghwaru is located at Schwalbach am Taunus. This down is approx. 15 minutes far from Frankfurt am Main. It was on Sunday when I was at this restaurant. It was full of the customers because many other korean restaurants close on Sunday. The taste of food was super. I had almost same taste of jajangmyon in Korea

One of the exotic foods I tried and liked in Frankfurt was the etopian food. It was not easy to find the african food in Korea. Even I fould, the taste might be not that the authentic flavor. I don't know the reason, but there are many african restaurants exist in Frankfurt and most of them are etophian restaurants. There will be more than 40 countries in Africa. However, only the etophian restaurants are dominant in Frankfurt. I went to the 'Im Herzen Afrikas' with my friend to show the exotic flavour of the Frankfurt. It was her first time to try the aftican restaurant. I ordered the mixed teller which most people order in this restaursnt. She surprised by the size of the dish, it is not easy to complete all food by two persons. Mixed teller, with bread, veggies, photatoes, two sourses and two dishes two  dishes, 1 bbq beef and 1 spicy beef  Fortunately, she liked it and we could manage to eat almost all of the food. When I went to Münster for attending the marathon, I wanted to eat a dinner with someone. I found a companion at the couchsurfing website and I had not a lonely dinner at there. The girl who I had a dinner with me visited here Frankfurt and I wanted to bring her where she never been to before. It is common to see the etiphian restaurant in Frankfurt but it will be a quite new experience for the tourists. I wanted to book the restaurant Demera, but the restaurant was fully booked. The second restaurant I tried was the African queen. Unfortunately, it was also full on that day. So, the third choice was which I haven't been before. This restaurant has 4.8 point of the google review score. It si the highst score among all african restaurants in Frankfurt. I thought that it was boring to order athe african plate only, I ordered the african plate for 1 person and 1 zilzil. But when the food was served I was surprised by the size of the food. I got to know many people through the meet-up social network. It's not clear, but I think I met at least 500 people at the events I organised a couple of times. I cannot meet all the people that I got to know, so I had to somehow contact with the people who have a same interest like me. Most of them are Asian or someone related to the Asian culture. And they can eat every food and also spicy food. However, I also have a friend who is vegetarian. Whenever I met him, we always went to the Indian restaurant. At least he could introduce me a delicious Indian food and his suggestion was always right. 4 of us met at the south Indian restaurant ' ' on Wednesday after work. A friend of mine asked me to feed his rabbit, so I went to the Eschenheimer Tor and came to the restaurant a little bit late, only 5 minutes. Other two Greek guys came later than me.
